Daclatasvir found in Daclavir, stops the Hepatitis C virus from multiplying and infecting more cells. It lowers the amount of the Hepatitis C virus in the body and removes the virus from the blood.  

Daclatasvir must never be taken on its own. It should b taken in combination with other medications. 

 

Side Effects

Here are some of the commonly reported side effects of Daclavir tablets,

  • Headache

  • Itchiness

  • Anemia 

  • Nausea 

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Low white blood cells

  • Tiredness

  • Rashes 

  • Decreased appetite

The side effects usually go away on their own without any treatment. If the side effects tend to stay or worsen, consult your doctor.

 

Risks to consider

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are taking any medications for heart disease. 

This medication is often used in combination with Ribavirin to treat Hepatitis. Ribavirin is found to cause harm to the fetus. Hence, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, talk to your doctor. 

If you become pregnant while on Daclavir, stop taking the medication and consult your doctor immediately.

Do not breastfeed while on this medication and ensure that you use contraception, up to at least 5 weeks after treatment.

Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while taking this medicine, as your ability to do these activities may be hampered by this medicine.

 

Dosage

Take Daclavir tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet, swallow it whole with a glass of water. 

If you miss a dose of this medicine, get it as soon as possible. But, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you accidentally take more dosages than prescribed, contact your doctor at once.
