The Daruvir 800mg Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called Antiretrovirals, which are used in the treatment of HIV. Manufactured by Cipla, it contains Darunavir as its active ingredient.
Daruvir 800mg Tablets are used as a part of antiretroviral therapy to treat HIV infections in adults and children above the age of 3. As with other retrovirals, it doesn’t cure HIV but rather reduces the viral load on the body.
It is mostly paired with Ritonavir in antiretroviral therapy.
Darunavir, found in the Daruvir 800mg Tablet, is a nonpeptidic protease inhibitor (PR) that reduces the HIV virus in your body. Protease is an essential enzyme that HIV requires to multiply.
Although, this medicine does not cure HIV. If taken properly in a combination with other antiretrovirals, it can help decrease HIV to undetectable levels. When the HIV is undetectable in the body, one cannot pass it on to someone else even through unprotected sex.

These side effects usually resolve on their own without any medical attention. If the side effects persist or seem to get worse, consult your doctor.
If you have a history of hepatitis infection or severe liver problems, let your doctor know. Daruvir 800mg Tablet may sometimes worsen liver health.
If you are diabetic, let your doctor know before consuming this medication.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning on getting pregnant, request your doctor for advice as the effects of this medication on the baby is unknown. Additionally, it is advised not to breastfeed your baby as the HIV infection may pass on through breast milk.
Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or do tasks that require good concentration as this medication may make you feel dizzy or sleepy and affect your skills.
Take Daruvir 800mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor, at the same dose, and for the same duration. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Don’t crush or chew this medication. This medicine must be taken with food.
